February 16th, 2008 · No Comments

Tea is the most commonly consumed beverage in the world, and one of the reasons is the many health benefits that tea offers. All tea contains polyphenols, which give tea its antioxidant properties. It is these antioxidants that may help to protect our body from free radical damage, and tea actually ranks higher than many fruits and vegetables in the ORAC score, which is a score that aims to measure antioxidant potential of plant-based foods.

Red tea is a type of tea that is known better by Westerners as black tea, and it is made from the completely oxidized bud leaves of Camellia sinesis. This tea is much stronger than the other varieties of this beverage, and it contains more caffeine.

Red tea is the most popular type of tea in the world, and it is the most widely used ingredient in making iced tea and English tea. It is known for offering a variety of health benefits, including decreasing stomach acids, which will prevent gastritis. It also contains fluoride which helps prevent tooth decay. Because of its low caffeine content, this tea is considered excellent in promoting blood flow through the brain without exerting the heart, and this in turn allows the brain to sharpen its mental focus and concentration.

Roobios

There is another type of red tea, roobios tea, which is made from roobios and which is also known as South African red tea. The roobios is a member of the legume family of plants, and is only grown in a small area in the Cederberg region of the Western Cape province.

Typically, the leaves of the roobios are oxidized, a process which results in producing the distinctive reddish-brown color. The flavor of roobios tea, or South African red tea, is described as sweet and slightly nutty, and preparation of the tea is essentially the same as creating a cup of regular black tea, except that the flavor is improved by a longer brewing processes.

Roobios is known for being incredibly rich in antioxidants, including aspalathin, which is a particular antioxidant that has not been identified in any other source. It also contains a variety of flavonoids, including quercetin, luteloin, orientin, iso-orientin, vitexin and iso-vitexin. Roobios is also known for offering considerable anti-aging and detoxification benefits, and it has even been reported that it is able to suppress cancer producing cells and protect your body from free radical damage.

All tea is advantageous in some way, but red tea above all others stands out as being incredibly healthy and beneficial.
